Greek women are not objects you can get! Well, any woman is not an object you can get! Meet one, understand her, love her, care for her, respect here, treat her as an equal, forget the maid model, and if you are nice enough she may pay attention to you! This holds true for all the women of the world, not just Greeks! The one thing I know is that they do not really care too much about religion or color or race, if their future husband is loyal and loving. (their family may nag a bit, but this is not enough to stop a marriage)
Greek women even when come from not so wealthy or economically stable families of society are always smart, ambitious, femine and highly beautiful women .
They are intelligent, ambitious , educated , loving, strong, passionate, hardworking , great lovers and great mothers and love life. Greek women are fighters not objects and as they adore and respect men they want the same from their men as well .
What type of Greek wife? One that is looking for a husband obviously! Not much difference than with non-Greek women actually, added some extra egoism and cunning and some complexes. If you want a leftist, just pretend to be a leftist. If you want a money loving one, go to instagram and search the pretty Greek women, then be prepared to become a sponsor.
On the other hand if you want a normal relationship with the pros and cons, migrate to Greece and start meeting Greek women, maybe you will find the match that is suitable to you. Good luck!
Well… it’s strange, I tell you.
Greek society is still trying to come to terms with the 21st century.
Greek women are in the job market since the 70s and they are currently a de facto part of the workforce.
But Greek men still believe that their wives should treat their families the same way their mothers and grandmothers did. They have to be there for the children, do the house- chores and in general take care of the house, do the laundry, prepare home cooked meals etc.
Greek society also expects today’s women to be financially and socially independent. They need to have a career, take care of their appearance and have a social life (it can be shared but the ideal is that they should have their own circle).
So men have it easy, but children are even more spoilt. Even teenagers rarely if ever contribute to house chores (like cleaning, grocery shopping, even preparing a frigging toast). Again that falls on the woman. Oh and of course children do not leave their parents house when they turn 18. They are still Greek children. If you raised them right, they may assist in major chores like cleaning their rooms or taking the laundry to the laundry basket (where they are magically washed and return folded to their closets).
All in all they are in an impossible situation. And unfortunately, even if Greeks marry late (an educated Greek is unlikely to get married before his/her 30s), they discover that they are in an impossible situation after they create a family. Which makes them unhappy. And then their husbands and their children become unhappy. And no, divorce is not an easy option because that would be admitting failure on so many levels! And Greeks (male and female) are many things, they are never quitters.
All in all, if you come from a progressive, western society you’ll probably love all the care and pampering you receive and she’ll appreciate the help she’ll get. But don’t expect her to let you run the house or to in any way accept that her children stop being children under her wing even at 18.
If you come from a more conservative society (e.g. African, Latino, Middle Eastern) you may be taken aback at the level of independence a Greek wife will exhibit, or wants to exhibit.
If you’re a Greek… well you don’t need my rumbling.
No matter what your background is, prepare for her middle-life crisis at 35–45. Try to be supportive, and finally learn how to help with the house and the children. All in all, be a better man than I am! :-
